Popups in the Park

Rising Step brings tiny, popup solo social dances to parks across Somerville this spring. Dancers perform original polkas - usually a favorite social dance for eight - as hard shoe solos for you to catch by chance!

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Somerville Arts Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Rising Step, Laura Feddersen, & Cara Frankowicz

Laura & Cara join forces with Rising Step in a new collaboration highlighting the power of pairs. Twin fiddles, dance & music duets, and two-hand dances interweave and blur rhythm, harmony, and melody. We see dancer as musician and musician as dancer in this new set built on interplay, improvisation, and textured arrangements of Irish dance and music.
